Everything grows here – rice up to three times a year, all kinds of exotic fruits, and much more. The nearby sea also adds to the many blessings of this region. Nature is lush and inviting, as is its population.
We propose you to experience life alongside the arms and canals of the mythic river. Enjoy the quiet existence and company of the inhabitants, known throughout Vietnam for their kindness and friendliness.
About this tour
Day 1
Road to the Mekong Delta (2h).
Visit on a small boat an old secret military base of the Viet Cong, hidden in the flooded jungle.
Lunch and follow on to the small town of Sa Dec (1h).
Install ourselves in the former home of French writer Marguerite Duras’ "Lover" (basic comfort*).
Discover Sa Dec by bike: visit the famous nurseries, enjoy the views on the Mekong river, and more.
Overnight stay in Sa Dec.
In case of unavailability, we will stay in a small hotel in Sa Dec town and visit the house in the late afternoon.
Day 2
Pursuit of our discovery of the Delta region.
Travel by road to the town of Cai Rang (2h). Rest in a family homestay (basic comfort *).
Bike along the canals, visit fruit trees plantations and meet with the people of the delta.
Cook with our hosts.
Day 3
Early rise to visit the floating market of Cai Rang.
Drive back to Ho Chi Minh City, or to Ha Tien for those who wish to travel on to the beaches of Phu Quoc (3-4 hours drive).
* basic comfort: sleeping on small thin mattresses under mosquito nets, with bathing and toilets outside.
