About this tour
Day 1
Road from Hanoi to Ba Be Lake National Park (7 hours drive).
We find very quickly the scenic mountains of northern Vietnam.
We take the time to visit tea plantations near the town of Tay Nguyen. The tea is well known throughout Vietnam.
We spend the night at a family homestay, a Tay ethnic village (basic comfort*).
Stroll in the end of the day around the village.
Day 2
We start hiking to mountain villages around Ba Be Lake (**).
Overnight homestay in a Dao or Tay ethnic minority village (basic comfort*).
Day 3
Seasonal actvities with the villagers.
Walk back to the lake and have a day of rest on the benches of the lake and on its waters.
Boat ride around the lake and in the rivers feeding it, walking in the countryside, visiting waterfall and caves ...
Night in our family homestay in the village of Tay (basic comfort *).
Day 4
Walk back to the valley and drive to Hanoi, Cao Bang or Bao Lac. Night in a hotel.
*Basic comfort: floor mats, mosquito nets, thin mattress, pillow, bathing water and toilets outside. For more comfort, you can bring your sheets.
Mid-November to mid-March, temperatures can be chilly at night. We can use blankets lent by the host families or plan to bring a light sleeping bag. It is also possible to buy a blanket at the local market for 2-3 € and leave it to the family that welcomes you.
** During the monsoon, rains can make the walk/hike difficult, even impossible. In this case, the paths can be changed or canceled accordingly.
It is possible to do only this tour in 3 days (Day 1, 2 and 4)
