A short description
This is the first hydro-power reservoir built in the history of Laos. Impressive in size, it’s the sea Laotians don't have. A fish sanctuary, the lake quickly became home to fisherman populations who arrived from all regions in Laos. We’ll spend some time discovering Nam Ngum lake and meeting with its atypical population. Enjoy the freshness of its waters and the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
About this tour
Day 1
Road to Nam Ngum lake;
We’ll cross the hydro-electric reservoir from east to west. The construction of the dam is related to the American war in Vietnam;
Have a swim in the pristine waters and savour fresh fish the Laotian way on one of the lake’s islands;
Overnight stay in a village of Hmong refugees in the villagers’ houses (basic comfort). Meetings and discussions around Hmong culture.
Day 2
We’ll spend the morning in the village;
We’ll take the boat back to the dam and from there continue by road to the capital Vientiane;
Overnight stay in a hotel

*For those who want to continue to relax at the lake, they can spend one more night in a hotel on the lake's shores. In the afternoon, they have free time with different activities to choose from: walking around the lake, swimming, boat trip to the islands ...
**The tour can start from Vang Vieng and end in Vientiane
